Welcome to the start of the 2009 Babe Ruth Baseball season!

While practice won’t commence until March, we’d like to open up the registration window now so that your child can complete the registration process and help us gauge the number of players/teams we’ll field this year.

Traditionally, based upon enrollment, we field teams in two brackets:

a)    “Prep” teams for those 13 and 14 year olds making the move up from Little League to the High School/Major League-sized baseball diamond.  This team competes in the Norwalk Prep League against similar-aged and experienced players.  This tends to be a team of older eighth graders and some high school freshman.

b)    Teams composed of 14 and 15-year olds, comprised of players with a season of experience playing on the larger field.  They also play in a Norwalk league with older, more experienced players.   This tends to be a team of older freshman, sophomores and some juniors not playing in the high school program.  We typically add another team at the conclusion of the high school season.

Fees:

Fees cover the cost of coaches, umpires, baseballs, insurance and team equipment.

Fees for the full spring season (commencing in March and ending around June 15) are $250 per player.

Fees for the regular spring season are $175 per player.

Our objective in the spring season is instructional, competitive play, doing our best to “balance” teams in the same age bracket, distributing pitchers and catchers especially as these skill positions are always in short supply.  If for car-pooling or other reasons you wish to request a particular teammate, we will try to accommodate consistent with our commitment to balanced teams.

Spring Baseball 2009

(Ages: 13, 14, 15)

Who is eligible:       Any player born prior to April 30, 1996 and after May 1,

                                      1993 will be eligible for the 2009 Spring Babe Ruth baseball program.

What do I need

to send:                    Copy of birth certificate (not necessary if your son registered

                                      and played Babe Ruth league baseball in the last 12 months).

Fee:                            As above, checks payable to Weston Baseball Association.

Tryouts:                    There will be NO try-outs.  Teams will be selected by the

                                       Board and coaches.

Spring Season:      Season runs from approximately March 31 through June 15.

Teams:                     Number of teams will depend on registration levels.  Teams will include a

13 Year-old ONLY “Prep” level, and a “14/15 Year-old” level.  All teams will play in a Fairfield County Babe Ruth Baseball League which include teams from neighboring towns (Westport, Wilton, Darien, Norwalk, etc.).

Complete the attached registration form and enclose your check in the amount of $250/$175, respectively, per player payable to Weston Baseball Association and a copy of your child’s birth certificate (as necessary) and mail to:
