Youth Umpire Program

League Objectives:
Provide a program that will deepen the Little League experience for graduates of the Weston Little League baseball program.  The Youth Umpire program objectives are:

  • provide a setting for youths to serve as a role model for the younger players,
  • provide an opportunity to serve their community,
  • deepen their knowledge of baseball,
  • rovide a sense of responsibility and accomplishment (as for most of the participants this will be their first paid job).

  • This program is for youths 13 and older who have prior experience playing in Little League Baseball.
  • All participants must attend at least 6 hours of training from a certified umpire designated by the Weston Little League Board.

Training Protocol: All youths interested in umpiring during the upcoming 2012 season must attend a training session.
  1. Training times will be set with a designated professional umpire and candidate must attend all trainings. Total training time will be 6 hours.
  2. After initial training is complete, the youth umpire will be assigned a game to umpire.
To those interested in becoming a youth umpire for the Weston Little League there will be a training clinic on Sunday September 23 from 9:00am to 10:15am on Bisceglie 1. This clinic is the first step in becoming a youth umpire. After attending the clinic, youth umpires will be assigned a game where they will be evaluated. Upon successful completion of this evaluation youth umpires will be cleared to sign themselves up for games.
